British Asparagus Crowdfunding Campaign

by Jayne Dyas

British asparagus wants to become the first ever vegetable to crowdfund its own party!

Launched (Wednesday 9th March) at midday, the British asparagus growers will be aiming to crowdfund £7,000 to put on The Great British Asparagus Feast. A celebration of seasonal veg with asparagus as the star of the show; only if the full total of £7,000 is crowdfunded will the 5 course feast go ahead with top Bristol chefs Josh Eggleton (of Michelin-starred Pony & Trap), Seldon Curry (of Wallfish Bistro) and Jamie Randall (of Adelina Yard) each cooking courses with the help of City of Bristol College.

You can pledge £75 for a seat at the feast to include all 5 courses and a matching wine flight selected by Guardian drinks writer Fiona Beckett. The chance to help the determined little veg doesn’t stop there. Show your support with as little as £5, or pledge for a reward such as one of the first 100 bundles of British asparagus.

The feast will be held on the evening of Thursday 5th May, in the heart of the short, 8 week British asparagus season, at Yurt Lush in Bristol. How can people join in/how does it work?
