New Training for Innovation and Skills

ARTIS – Agri-tech Register and Training for Innovation and Skills – is a new industry-led accredited training programme available to agronomists, farmers and commercial growers of all sizes. The initiative has been developed by G’s Growers, NIAB, LANTRA and East Malling Research, with funding from UK Commission for Employment and Skills and support from a wide range of industry organisations and businesses.

The courses we provide have been designed to tackle the industry-wide issue of the lack of practical skills-based training in the arable, vegetable, salad crop and fruit sectors, which has been found to be hindering the profitability and competitiveness of UK agriculture as a whole. The first set of classroom and field-based training courses, available from Autumn 2014 through to Spring 2015, can now be booked online at Subjects range from generic modules covering issues such as soil management, crop nutrition, spray technology and precision farming to more specific agronomy packages focused on helping growers protect and realise yield potential in particular crops.
