Nick Douglas - Chairman
We are a small dedicated team of specialists with extensive skills in the many disciplines required to best promote, represent, lead, co-ordinate and support the UK Horticulture Industry
Jack has a wealth of experience in the Horticultural and Agricultural industries. Having worked for the NFU as Regional Director in the East Midlands and CEO of City & Guilds NPTC, Jack’s primary objective is for British Growers to be recognised as a major force in the representation and promotion of a world class produce industry as well as providing high quality and commercially relevant services to our member organisations.
“Outside work I am an active Oarsman competing at both national and international levels. The sport requires a blend of fitness, concentration and a desire for continuous improvement – the perfect accompaniment to life at the office.”
Lisa has overall responsibility for one of the five Producer Organisations, carries out all the accounting functions for two of the five Producer Organisations and assists Jayne and Julia in the accounting for all of the Crop Associations. Lisa is also our in house Human Resources expert and oversees all aspects of the office support services.
“As a mother of three young children when I am not at work or transporting “the Eaglets” to Beavers, Brownies, tennis, dancing or swimming lessons(!)…. I can be found enjoying my passion for food, fine wines and fizz. My lifestyle requires excellent organisational skills, passion, enthusiasm and bags of energy – all traits which are echoed in my approach to work.”
Head of Crop Associations
Jayne has overall responsibility for all of our crop associations and in particular leads on the Asparagus, Brassica, British Onions, Leeks, Leafy Salads, Cucurbit and Rhubarb Crop Associations. Jayne has extensive experience in the UK Horticulture sector and is our longest serving member of the team.
“I am a member of the Horncastle Ladies tennis team and enjoys Pilates, walking the family retriever around the Lincolnshire Wolds and socialising with family who live in many different counties around England and Northern Ireland.”
Philip Wilkinson has overall responsibility for our largest Vining Pea Producer Organisation's accounts. As well as looking after the British Growers Associations and Market Intelligence Services accounts, Philip also manages Tim's producer organisations' accounts.
“I have a fascination with genealogy and enjoy researching family histories. I enjoy family days out and follow Hull City FC ”
Ruth is our in house IT guru! Whilst working very closely with Tim, looking after the Market Intelligence Services IT needs, Ruth has overall responsibility for all our IT functions as well as website development and information services data.
“In my spare time I love to play computer games and enjoy a good movie. Having been born in Yorkshire, the Dales are my favourite place to visit and often go walking with family. I have two Crested Geckos that love to jump around and keep me up at night.”
Janice assists Jack and Martin in managing all aspects of their business life from scheduling of meetings to all their time management, and everything else in between! Janice additionally provides support for the work associated with the Producer Organisations.
“I am a member of Louth Lions Club and Inner Wheel Club of Louth. I enjoy walking, painting, playing with boats and gardening.”
As a highly proficient financial administrator; Esther has responsibility for all the day to day accounting for all the crop associations, British Growers and supports Lisa in the accounting of three of the five vining pea group organisations.
“I have 2 teenage children, a cat called Phoebe and a rabbit called Topsy. At the weekends I can be seen cheering on local football teams; I am a keen dart player and enjoy the occasional glass of wine.”
Lucinda initially joined on an Accounting apprenticeship but after passing her level 2 exams is now embarking onto AAT level 3. Lucinda supports Philip in managing our largest Producer Organisation as well as the Market Intelligence Services payroll and day to day accounts.
“I’m a keen member of Lincolnshire Young Farmers and I am currently vice chairman and treasurer of my local club. I like football, Liverpool being the club I support and go to Anfield to watch games when I can.”
Paul works on the Producer Organisations and the accounts functions for crop groups.
“Away from the office I love photography, football, reading & cinema.”
Sam joined British Growers to compliment Ruth in the Market Intelligence Services team. Sam’s primary focus is data analysis and statistical reporting.
“Outside of work, I enjoy family days out with my two daughters and also socialising and eating out with friends.”
Brooke supports the crop association managers with their work on newsletters, events and crop specific surveys.
“Away from work am busy supporting my other half who takes part in stock car racing (racing a stock rod). Holidays in the Lake District. Spending time with family and friends. Horse riding is an old hobby but I would still love to have my own horse again in the future.”
